Frequently asked questions
Once you have registered we will send you more detailed information as the course gets closer.
When should I arrive?
We start the course on March 29th in the late afternoon. You need to fly into New Delhi, arriving no later than March 28th, 2019., or maybe early morning of the 29th leaving time to connect to a flight to Dehradun or a train to Haridwar. Check in begins at the location at 12:00 noon on March 29th, 2019. If it is possible, we highly suggest to arrive to India March 27th or 28th. This would be to help you rest and recover from jet lag before the course begins. This will also give you more time to travel from New Delhi to Rishikesh. If you would like to arrive earlier or stay later at the resort, please contact the Nirvana River Resort directly as Kundalini Yatras is not responsible for any early or extended stays. You can book directly for early or late stay via www.nirvanariverresort.com . You may also choose to enjoy a night in rishikesh before heading up the mountain.
To get to Rishikesh you can either fly from Delhi to Dehradun, approximately 1 hr, or you can take a train to Haridwar from Delhi, 4.5 hrs on the express train. We can send you info for travel agents to help with Train tickets. Plane tickets can be purchased on line*
*Please note that domestic airline tickets on many of the airlines only allow 15kg for check in bags and you may have to purchase more in advance or at the airport or choose a higher class of service. Check the allowance and if necessary it may be cheaper to purchase extra weight in advance or show your international ticket, if its within 24 hrs of your flight they may wave the fees.
Please know that if you arrive early and stay at the Nirvana – you may have to change rooms for the course as we arrange all room assignments in advance of the course.
**For transportation arrangements from the airport or train station to the Nirvana River Resort or information on how to get there please contact Govind Agarwal. He is the managing director and can arrange this for you.

What's the weather like?
It will be hot in India in April. Good for swimming. It can get very hot elsewhere. As we are high up in the mountains it can cool down quite bit in the evening. Please check the weather before leaving. You will need sunscreen, a sun visor or hat and to stay hydrated.
What should I wear in India?
Our modest yogi clothes usually does the job! Good walking shoes and a hat or sun visor are a must. For women, please dress modestly with respect for the culture. It is preferred to not wear tank tops and halters or shorts. Also when traveling through India it is best not to wear tight or transparent clothes that show too much skin or underarms. Instead wear loose fitting graceful clothing such as Indian Kurtas. Long skirts are also a good option. This is to not only show respect for the culture but to also not draw unwanted attention to yourself. For men, we suggest not to wear tank tops. Kurta shirts and T-shirts are fine. You will be doing a lot of Kundalini Yoga and meditation so we prefer white or light colored clothing. Also, head coverings are highly recommended. Be sure to bring a swimsuit as you can go in the river at the resort.
All of our meals are vegetarian., mostly Indian vegetarian. Any further specific food allergies and needs should be shared with group leader ahead of time.
Do I need vaccinations, supplements, or medicine?
You will be sent a list of recommended supplements and suggestions to stay healthy during your time in India as the course approaches. Whatever prescription medications you are required to take at home, please continue to take them while in India. Feel free to contact us with any questions.
